Seb has recently joined our team here at SCS Technology Solutions and what a wonderful asset he is!

When someone new joins us, we like you to find out a little bit more about what makes them tick, because we see ourselves as an extended member of your team.

Here is what Seb had to say for himself when we questioned him earlier today…

What do you do at SCS?

I am an IT Support Technician.  This means that I provide IT support either over the phone or remote log-in.  I help our clients with everything from resetting a password to re-booting a server.  It’s incredible what we can do remotely.

What is it that you love about working in IT?

I love the problem-solving side of IT.  I like to be met with a challenge and work out a way to fix it.  I also like looking at things and finding better, more efficient, or effective ways of doing them.

Building client relationships is another thing I love about working in IT.  As time goes on, I begin to fully understand the way a company works and the way an individual within that company likes to work.  As I get a better understanding and the relationship between us grows, my ability to solve their problem quickly, in a way that works for them, increases too.

What frustrates you the most?

I get incredibly frustrated if I am met with a problem that I can’t immediately solve.  Having said that, one of the great things about working at SCS is that I can always turn to another of our experts because what one of us might not know, someone else surely will.

Another thing to say is that working with SCS Technology, a managed service provider, it means that we are always learning.  These new skills, ideas and solutions can be applied across all of our clients, so in many ways – all of our customers benefit.

What is the best tip you can give a client?

Passwords.  Passwords.  Passwords.

I have had to deal with some very nasty after-effects as a result of people having their passwords compromised.  Please make sure you set strong passwords, not just a word and a number, but use punctuation and special characters and have a different password for everything.

The more secure your password, the better your life is going to be.

If you were stuck on a desert island with a laptop and one piece of software – what would it be?

It would have to be a music app with lots and lots of downloaded music.  Probably Spotify.  I love my music.  What you might also find interesting about me though is that in my spare time I develop computer games – that is probably more interesting than saying I listen to music . . but truly, if I was stuck on a desert island, it would be Spotify.
