Are you still using Windows 7 on one or more of your devices? If you are, then you’re not alone, but something will have to change soon. It remains one of Microsoft’s most popular operating systems but in under a year, all support for Windows 7 will 3109537 1280

The following products will go End of Life on the 14th January 2020:

  • Microsoft Windows 7
  • Microsoft Server 2008/2008 R2
  • Microsoft Exchange 2010
  • Small Business Server 2011

What does this mean for you?

End of Life means that from the above dates, there will be no technical support for problems that may occur and there will be no bug fixes for issues that are discovered. This is likely to impact the stability and usability of the server or computer.

There will also no longer be security fixes for vulnerabilities that are discovered which may make the server/software exposed to security breaches, and if a large number of people continue to use Windows 7 after the End of Life date, it could be a big incentive for malicious users to target viruses and other nasties at Windows 7.

What should you do now?

With less than 10 months to go, we recommend having a look at your current IT software as soon as possible and seeing if any of the above products relate to your business. If they do, we highly recommend talking to us about upgrading your system before the deadline date.

Remember you only have until January 2020 to make sure your Windows 7 devices are covered when support stops. If you’d like our help in making a switch or protecting your data before that deadline, simply get in touch with the team on 01522 883636 or email
